Yom shlishi
THE THIRD DAY
AS always we start with
All this occurs on ycylc
!wy
the third day
Could
these third day experiences that Abraham, Isaac and Ya’akov had be about seeds
and planting and especially what kind
of seed is coming to fruition on these third day experiences
In
the Fathers of our faith, these third day experiences marked a major turning
point in their lives!!!
Remember
who gets to experience the biggest and mostest of all third day experiences?????
Gen
32:1 And
Jacob went on his way, and the angels(^almmal-awk')
of God met him.
Gen
32:2 And
when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name
of that place Mahanaim.
Gen
32:3 And
Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the
country of Edom.
Exactly
who met Ya’akov???
Gen
19:1 And there came
two angels (^almmal-awk')
to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them
rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
Exo 23:20
Behold, I send an Angel (^almmal-awk')
before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place
which I have prepared.
Exo
23:21 Beware
of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your
transgressions: for my name is in him.
Exo
23:22 But
if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an
enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
Exo
23:23 For mine Angel shall go
before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the
Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut
them off.
If the Ones who Ya’akov met were just
the Two who destroyed Sodom was that sufficient to take care of any threat
including Esau???
If
the One mentioned in Shemot (exodus) 23, One who could cut off the Amorites,
and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the
Jebusites, is
among the Ones whom Ya’akov met, would that be sufficient to handle any threat
including Esau???
Getting a better grip on what has really happened to
Ya’akov!!!!!
How is it that we strengthen our grip???
Find answers to our questions!!!!
Next question to answer…….
Exactly HOW??? Did the angels of God meet Ya’akov?
Gen
32:1 And
Jacob went on his way, and the angels (^almmal-awk')
of God met ([gppaw-gah') him.
Gen
32:2 And
when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name
of that place Mahanaim.
Gen 32:3
And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of
Seir, the country of Edom.
Exactly HOW??? Did the angels of God meet Ya’akov, they are
close about him, on his right and left , close, all around Ya’akov!!
Gen
32:1 And
Jacob went on his way, and the angels (^almmal-awk')
of God met ([gppaw-gah') him.
Gen
32:2
And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host(hnjm makh-an-eh'): and he called the name of that
place Mahanaim (!ynjm makh-an-ah'-yim).
Gen
32:3 And
Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the
country of Edom.
BDB Definition:
1a) camp, place of encampment
1b) camp of armed host,
Further
strengthening our grip….
Up
to this point Ya’akov has just been through the miraculous events of:
·
Traveling
325 miles across a desert barren area with family, maidservants menservants, and
many, many head of different animals and experienced YHWH Gods deliverance
·
Encountered
selfish, trickster, extortionist, idol worshiping Baalam-like, Laban and
experienced YHWH Gods deliverance
·
Encountered the very
protecting angels of God by them impinging upon him!!! and has affirmed that
YHWH Gods will is his will.
At
this point can we honestly say that Ya’akov is running scared?
If
he is scared, why in the world would he send messengers to Esau???, after all he
darted out of Haran without telling Laban anything???
If
he is scared why not just relax in the company of the host of angels???
(glory
be Roy that sounds like the safest place in the whole universe)
What
could be the possible motive in Ya’akov’s heart???
Gen
32:3 And
Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the
country of Edom.
Gen
32:4 And
he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant
Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
Gen
32:5 And
I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have
sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
Gen 32:6
And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother
Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
Asking questions to strengthen our grip!!!
Gen 32:3
And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of
Seir, the country of Edom.
How far south to the country of Edom is it from
Ya’akov’s location in Gilead???
70 to 80 miles!!!
So does Ya’akov send these messengers on a 140 to 160 mile
round trip just so he can get killed????
What in the wide world is
he doing??
Gen
32:5 And
I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants (db[ eh'-bed),
and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy
sight.

Bondservants
How
did he get menservants and womenservants???
Probably
trickster, extortionist, Baalam-like, idolater
Laban had taken was theirs and left them homeless and in the cold.
Ya’akov
has been over in Haran being a conduit of YHWH Gods blessing!!
Is
that not the blessing/responsibility of a firstborn???
Would
Esau have paid debts he didn’t owe or would he have taken care of business
with his bow???
Gen
32:5 And
I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants (db[ eh'-bed),
and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I
may find (axm maw-tsaw)
grace (@j khane

thy sight.
A primitive root; properly to come forth to
From H2603; graciousness
Ya’akov simply asks Esau if he may be a conduit of YHWH
Gods blessing to him!!
Gen
32:6
And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother
Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
Lets
look at the number 400!
Gen
15:13 And
he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land
that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict
them four hundred years;
Gen
23:15 My
lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of
silver; what is that between me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
1Sa
22:1 David
therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his
brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to
him.
1Sa
22:2 And
every one that was in distress, and every one that was in
debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves
unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four
hundred men
Act
5:36 For
before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a
number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as
many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to naught.
