Luk 19:13 And¹¹⁶¹ he called²⁵⁶⁴ his¹⁴³⁸ ten¹¹⁷⁶ servants,¹⁴⁰¹ [douloi—bondservants] and delivered¹³²⁵ them⁸⁴⁶ ten¹¹⁷⁶ pounds,³⁴¹⁴ and²⁵³² said²⁰³⁶ unto⁴³¹⁴ them,⁸⁴⁶ Occupy⁴²³¹ till²¹⁹³ I come.²⁰⁶⁴

The root of doulos is: G1210 δέω deō A primary verb; to bind (in various applications, literally or figuratively): - bind, be in bonds, knit, tie, wind.

*** Thus, the reasonable translation has to be “bondservant”.

Luk 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

*** Note: When the “Nobleman” returns, his bondservants are given positions of rulership in His Kingdom!

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Mat 19:29 "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name's sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life. [NASB]

[We could speculate on lots of roles based on the tidbits we are given, but those who govern will not be mortal humans!]
