Drawing Near Through the Olah

Vayikra (leviticus) ch:1

  Click here for audio

So far in our study of drawing near through the Olah we have taken a close look at rebellion……..

Num 20:24  Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled (hrm maw-raw') against my word at the water of Meribah.

Num 27:13  And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

Num 27:14  For ye rebelled (hrm maw-raw') against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

Dan.9:5  We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, (drm  maw-rad') even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

H4775  drm  maw-rad'

A primitive root; to rebel:

Dan 9:9  To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled (drm  maw-rad') against him;

We have so far seen that rebellion is a temptation to all of us, we all have the propensity to rebel……….

So far in our study of drawing near through the Olah we have taken a close look at idolatry……..

In the following verse who or what is the idol that these religious leaders are seeking to draw near to???

Joh 5:44  How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?

Is it not SELF

We have also seen that idolatry comes from within ourselves and that idolatry ultimately leads to rebellion……

Remember these verses were written to saved people………

Col 3:5  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry (KJV)

We have also begin to see that idolatry is alive and well in the computer age and that it is the most subtle and dangerous sin……..

Is it any wonder that the second commandment is the longest commandment of the TEN and even has its own commentary????

Exo 20:3  Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exo 20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Exo 20:5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exo 20:6  And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Idolatry is by far the sin that captivates and brings curse upon mankind………..

Could it be that as we study and ponder the  hl[ (olah) !brq (korban), the olah procedure for drawing near, we will begin to see the precepts laid down for us to use as tools to deal with the inward corruption within all of us. (the seeds of rebellion)

Lev 1:1  And the LORD called unto Moses, and spoke unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Whats the difference between and calling and speaking??

H1696  rbd dâbar

 (strong's) A primitive root; perhaps properly to arrange

rbd

d= door, to enter, pathway

r= head of, first, person, highest

b= house, household, family

YHWH God  is arranging his words to Moshe in such a fashion that the household of God will more fully comprehend in the Olah offering that the highest One, Yeshua, has provided the pathway and door  for us to draw near. All this is a result of great sacrifice by Yeshua!!

In case you don’t think the Olah typifies Yeshua, remember Isaac, who is one of the most important types of Yeshua in Torah.

Gen 22:2  And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering (hl[ o-law') upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

NTC on Yeshua providing the pathway for us

Joh 10:1  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Joh 10:7  Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

Joh 10:9  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Joh 10:17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

Joh 10:18  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

In all of these verses drawn from Johns gospel we see Yeshua plainly saying again and again that He is the means, the door, that we need in order to draw near.
Let us not be so narrow minded as to consider these verses in Yochanan's gospel to be considered salvation type verses only, but let us realize that He is also the door that we  enter through in order to obtain mercy, when we have been idolatrous and rebellious,  and to find His grace to help us in time of need.
Lev 1:1  And the LORD called unto Moses, and spoke unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
Where is He calling from?

d[wm lha   Ohel Moed

H4150 hd[wm  d[m  d[wm    mô‛êd  /  mô‛âdâh

(strongs) From H3259; properly an appointment

There is an appointment to be kept!!

Do you place value on this appointment?

Is this appointment precious to you?

What things do you place value on?

How important is it to you to draw near?

NTC on importance of drawing near

Mat 13:44  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Mat 13:45  Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

Mat 13:46  Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Phi 3:7  But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Phi 3:8  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Phi 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Phi 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Phi 1:29 because for the Messiah's sake it has been granted to you not only to trust in him but also to suffer on his behalf,

Again how important is it to you to draw near??

What price are you willing to pay???

It will cost you to draw near
Lev 1:1  And the LORD called unto Moses, and spoke unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Now we are saying

H559  rma  aw-mar'

A primitive root; to say (used with great latitude): - answer, appoint, avouch, bid, boast self, call, certify, challenge, charge, + (at the, give) command (ment), commune, consider, declare, demand, X desire, determine, X expressly, X indeed, X intend, name, X plainly, promise, publish, report, require, say, speak (against, of), X still, X suppose, talk, tell, term, X that is, X think, use [speech], utter, X verily, X yet.

rma

a= leader, strength,first

r= person, first, highest

m= water, chaos, liquid

The highest One, Yeshua, knows the chaos within each of us, and offers us a special strength, (that we desperately need), in the words he begins to say to us concerning the olah korban

NTC on our need of strength from the Ruach

Rom 8:13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Col 3:5  Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Now lets begin to see why we need that special strength

Lev 1:2  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.

Who are the following very important instructions for????

All the sons of Israel

What is Gods intent for Israel???

Larf  yis-raw-ale' From H8280 and H410

H8280  hrf  saw-raw'  A primitive root; to prevail
NTC on pevailing

Rev 21:7  He that overcometh (prevails) shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Does this sound like Gods intent for the sons of Israel???

Rev 3:21  To him that overcometh (prevails) will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame(prevailed), and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Does this sound like Gods intent for the sons of Israel???

What so many times keeps us from prevailing

Rev 3:12  Him that overcometh (prevails) will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Prevailing sounds more and more important doesn’t it ????………..

How can poor rebellious, idolatrous me prevail?……….

Rev 3:5  He that overcometh, (prevails) the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Rev 2:26  And he that overcometh, (prevails) and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Could this concept of prevailing be a part of the mark toward which Rabbi Shaul was pressing????………

Phi 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Rev 2:17  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh (prevails) will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Rev 2:11  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh (prevails) shall not be hurt of the second death.

Where in scripture do we find the verses about prevailing???……….

Surely as important as this topic is, we can look back on our new covenant training and firmly declare that “Yes, I have been well trained in scriptures teaching on prevailing.”

Sadly we cannot look at the Messianic movement and find out very much about the subject either……..

Has YHWH God for some unknown reason hidden the scriptural teachings on prevailing…

Does He have something against us???…..

Rev 2:7  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh (prevails) will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

1Jo 2:13  I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome (prevailed) the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

How could Yochannan (john) the beloved apostle write with such confidence to his taught ones that they had such a commanding grip on prevailing that they already had overcome the Wicked One???…..

Could the past years of our lives when we spurned Torah have anything to do with our obvious deficiency in this matter???…..

Could our entanglement with idolatry and rebellion be hindering us from getting a grip on a very critical scriptural principle???…..

Could it be that hidden in the different Korban procedures for drawing near,the Olah, the Mincah, the Chatat, the Zevach Shelamim, the Asham, lie the object lessons and shadow pictures we need to see in order to be prevailers and thereby be true children of Israel???…….

Can we begin to see that from earliest times the will of YHWH God has been for us, the sons of Yisrael, to be overcomers!!!

Larf  yis-raw-ale' From H8280 and H410

H410  la  ale  Shortened from H352; strength; as adjective mighty; especially the Almighty

More specifically we are to be the Almighty’s overcomers.

In most people’s mind it might seem to be beyond a paradox, even nonsensical,  that we who are beset with weakness, rebellion     and daily battle the idol of self are expected, yes even required by the Almighty to not only draw near but also to overcome!!!!

Maybe the question in your mind might be the same as was in Nicodemus’s mind, “How can these things be”?

THERE IS A WAY
