Rick Warren

à Rick Warren is well known in Christianity.  Rick’s websites are:

www.purposedrivenlife.com

www.saddlebackresources.com

www.saddlebackfamily.com

I went to Rick’s website www.purposedrivenlife.com and listened to the short video message “What Does It Mean To Be A Follower Of Christ?”.  à In it, Rick clearly states that we are all sinners and that accepting Jesus’ atoning sacrifice is the only way to salvation.  So right away, it appears that Rick is not led by the “spirit of antichrist” which does not confess that Jesus came in the flesh.

à Although his “new age” elements are more difficult to detect, he still has some teachings that are of concern.  Let’s take a look at the biography about Rick from www.purposedrivenlife.com:

à As a pastor, he founded Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., in 1980 with one family. à Today, it is an evangelical congregation averaging 22,000 weekly attendees, a 120-acre campus, and has more than 300 community ministries to groups such as prisoners, CEOs, addicts, single parents, and those with HIV/AIDS. à Recently, the church fed 42,000 homeless people – three meals a day – for 40 days.

à He also leads the Purpose Driven Network of churches, a global coalition of congregations in 162 countries. à More than 400,000 ministers and priests have been trained worldwide, and almost 157,000 church leaders subscribe to Ministry Toolbox, his weekly newsletter. à His previous book, The Purpose Driven Church is listed in “100 Christian Books That Changed the 20th Century.” à Forbes magazine called it, “The best book on entrepreneurship, management, and leadership in print.

à As a global strategist, Dr. Warren advises leaders in the public, private, and faith sectors on leadership development, poverty, health, education, and faith in culture. He has been invited to speak at the  United Nations, the World Economic Forum in Davos, the African Union, the Council on Foreign Relations, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, TIME’s Global Health Summit, and numerous congresses around the world. à TIME magazine named him one of “15 World Leaders Who Mattered Most in 2004” and in 2005 one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.” à Also, in 2005 U.S. News & World Report named him one of “America’s 25 Best Leaders”.

à As a theologian, Dr. Warren has lectured at Oxford, Cambridge, the University of Judaism, the Evangelical Theological Society, and numerous seminaries and universities. à His six books are known for explaining theology in understandable ways and have been translated into more than 50 languages. Dr. Warren says he teaches theology without using theological terms and telling people it is theology. à His latest book, The Purpose Driven Life, has sold 25 million copies and is the best-selling hardback book in American history, according to Publisher’s Weekly.”

Rick Warren is obviously very influential not only in Christianity, but in the world.  Although Rick does confess that Jesus came in the flesh, many of his teachings are in line with new age philosophies.  Is Rick “purposely” deceiving his followers?  Perhaps not… (although Warren Smith named his book “Deceived On Purpose“).  Deception can be harder to discern when it comes from a ministry that confesses Jesus.

à Here is an excerpt from an article titled “And The Pulpits Are Silent” by Coach Dave Daubenmire March 6, 2008, from newswithviews.com:

I am about fed-up with what I see. How did we ever get such man-pleasing leaders? All that our fore-fathers held dear is being destroyed before our very eyes and hardly a peep from the pulpit. They don’t want to hear it. It's the pulpiteers that I am talking about. They are concerned with being too harsh, they tell me that “Jesus is in control,” that they are not “called” to fight evil and that "we should pray for our enemies.”

Where have these guys come from? What we need is a return of the Voice of God thundering through the prophets standing in America’s pulpits. Not the prissy Purpose Driven drivel passing as the Gospel today.

Listen to the message of America’s premiere preachers today. Rick Warren and his Purpose Driven Life have infiltrated the Church. Over 400,000 pastors have attended his conferences and over 40 million of his books have been sold. Wikipedia tells us “Since September 2002, over 30,000 congregations, corporations, and sports teams across the United States have participated in a "40 Days of Purpose" emphasis. A May 2005 survey of American pastors and ministers conducted by George Barna asked Christian leaders to identify what books were the most influential on their lives and ministries." The Purpose Driven Life was the most frequent response. Today’s Christians are more familiar with the words of Warren than the Words of Jesus. Thousands of America’s churches have used it in their Bible Studies and thousands of preachers preach Warren’s message.”

------ end quote

So what is Warren’s message?  If he is confessing that Jesus came in the flesh, what could be so wrong?  Is he one of these pastors that Coach Daubenmire is referring to?  Let’s look at a few examples:

à In “The Purpose Driven Life”, on p.88, Rick Warren declares that God is in everything.  Warren Smith, who I mentioned before, is the author of “Deceived On Purpose”, a book exposing the new age teachings of Rick Warren and others.  Since he had been deeply entrenched in the new age movement before being saved, he immediately recognized the similarities in Rick Warren’s teachings and the new age movement.  Smith, therefore, wondered where Rick Warren had gotten that teaching.  à He noticed that Rick Warren used passages from bibles called “The New Century Version” as well as “The Message”, and others.  This particular quote, on p. 88 of Purpose Driven Life, came from the New Century Version, and states:   He rules everything and is everywhere and is in everything” (Eph. 4:6).

Rick uses this verse in a section in his book on “becoming a best friend of God“.  He encourages not only spending a set quiet time with God, but that  everything you do can be spending time with God.  He encourages  practicing the presence of God” by doing everything for God, “whether it’s eating, bathing, working, relaxing, or taking out the trash“. Rick goes on to say “This is God’s ideal.  In Eden, worship was not an event to attend, but a perpetual attitude; Adam and Eve were in constant communion with God.”

(While I certainly agree that we should spend as much time with Yahweh as possible, and do all things as unto Him, I have a problem with “practicing” the presence of God.  Being in His presence should not be forced.)

Rick goes on to say:  “Because God is with you all the time, no place is any closer to God than the place where you are right now.”  à The Bible says, (here is the Ephesians 4:6 reference) “He rules everything and is everywhere and is in everything”.

The book “Purpose Driven Life” does not reference in the text what translation the Ephesians 4:6 reference comes from, nor what verse it is.  Instead, a footnote is provided.  In looking at the footnotes in the back of the book, I found Rick’s explanation as to why so many different bible translations were used:

à “This book contains nearly a thousand quotations from Scripture.  àI have intentionally varied the Bible translations used for two important reasons.   First, no matter how wonderful a translation is, it has limitations“.

à “Second, and even more important, is the fact that we often miss the full impact of familiar Bible verses, not because of poor translating, but simply because they have become so familiar.  We think we know what a verse says because we have read in or heard it so many times.  Then when we find it quoted in a book, we skim over it and miss the full meaning.  à Therefore I have deliberately used paraphrases in order to help you see God’s truth in new, fresh ways.  English-speaking people should thank God that we have so many different versions to use for devotional reading.”

(God’s truth is everlasting.  Why do we need to see it in new, fresh ways?  Shouldn’t we see it the way it was originally intended to be seen and understood?  After all, Yahweh changes not, neither does his word.  But unfortunately, man has tried to change Yahweh’s word.)

“Also, since the verse divisions and number were not included in the Bible until 1560 AD, à I haven’t always quoted the entire verse, but rather focused on the phrase that was appropriate.  My model for this is Jesus and how he and the apostles quoted the Old Testament.  They often just quoted a phrase to make a point.”

Without quoting the entire verse, or for that matter, much more, you fail to see the context of the verse.  You can then make a verse back up just about any point that you want to make.  As for Jesus and the apostles quoting the Old Testament… “New Testament” scriptures were inspired of the Holy Spirit, so were written exactly as they should have been.  We, on the other hand, can be easily mislead, and need to make sure that we have the truth of scripture as our foundation.

à Let’s see what Ephesians 4:6 really says.  This is it in the King James version:

(Remember, there are many bible versions.  They are all just translations.  You must go back to the original language to get to the meaning of each verse.  You don’t have to speak Greek or Hebrew, but you need to be able to use a concordance to go to the original words.)

à Ephesians 4:6  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

This word you is essential to the understanding of this verse.  à Let’s look again at the translation of Ephesians 4:6 that Rick used from the New Century Version:

“He rules everything and is everywhere and is in everything”

That’s quite a difference. It’s subtle, but it’s a very important difference.

I confirmed from the interlinear that the word you is in this verse.  It clearly means that God is in “you” (believers), not in every single human being!

à Here it is in the interlinear:

Eph 4:6  εις 1520[ONE] θεος 2316[GOD] και 2532[AND] πατηρ 3962[FATHER] παντων 3956[OF ALL,] ο 3588[WHO "IS"] επι 1909[OVER] παντων 3956[ALL,] και 2532[AND] δια 1223[THROUGH] παντων 3956[ALL,] και 2532[AND] εν 1722[IN] πασιν 3956[ALL] υμιν 5213[YOU.]

So the word “you” is in the original text.  You might think, what difference does this make?  It makes a huge difference, because Paul was talking to “YOU”, the believers in Yeshua!  He was NOT saying that God is in everything and everyone, he was saying that God is in all YOU believers!

Again, I agree that we should spend as much time in fellowship with Yahweh as possible.  à But Rick goes on to encourage another practice that I find problematic.

(quote) “The Bible tells us to “pray all the time”.  How is it possible to do this?  à One way is to use “breath prayers” throughout the day, as many Christians have done for centuries.  You choose a brief sentence or a simple phrase that can be repeated to Jesus on one breath:  “You are with me”, “I receive Your grace”, etc.  (end quote)

à This is frighteningly similar to the technique of transcendental meditation, as well as Helen Schucman‘s “A Course In Miracles“.  In TM, one has a “mantra”, a special word, that they repeat over and over again, usually 20 minutes at a time, a couple of times a day.  And as we have seen, the Course In Miracles focuses on a specific idea each day, and encourages repeating of, or meditating on, those ideas throughout the day.  If you talk to Yahweh all day long, that shows that you have a close relationship with Him.  However, repeating “breath prayers” or “practicing the presence of God” does not establish a relationship with Him, but is something that is forced.

à As Warren Smith continued to search for information about Rick Warren, he found that Rick was a graduate of Robert Schuller’s Institute For Successful Church Leadership.  Smith found many influences from Robert Schuller in the Purpose Driven Life book.   He found that Schuller also proclaims “Yes, God is alive and He is in every single human being!”, and that he has been teaching that for years.  Remember that doctrine of “oneness”, or “immanence” that the new age philosophy purports.

à As we have seen, this doctrine of “immanence”, or “oneness“ as I have called it (that God is in everything and everyone) is central to new age beliefs.  The teaching is prevalent in “A Course In Miracles”.  Also, in “A Course In Miracles“, the word “purpose” is prevalent, bringing to mind Rick Warren’s “Purpose” driven life and church. (see lesson 29).

à Remember Neale Donald Walsch?  I want to look at something else that he is teaching, and then we’ll see a strange similarity in Rick Warren:

à In the aftermath of 9/11, Walsch published his “Conversations With God” book.  In it, his “god” told him that people are not being terrorized by people, but by beliefs.  He said that people don’t have to abandon their beliefs, but they must transcend them.   In other words, they must be willing to compromise to achieve world peace.   He warned that a self-centered, exclusivist belief in a personal savior would not be conductive to world peace.  Walsch’s “god” said:  à Yet let me make something clear.  The era of the single Savior is over.  What is needed now is joint action, combined effort, collective co-creation.”  He called it the “new spirituality”, and proposed a five step peace plan to achieve it, which he calls his “P.E.A.C.E.” plan:

à P ermit ourselves to acknowledge that some of our old beliefs about God and about life are no longer working

à E xplore the possibility that there is something we do not understand about God and about life, the understanding of which could change everything

à A nnounce that we are willing for new understandings of God and life to new be brought forth, understandings that could produce a new way of life on this planet

à C ourageously examine these new understandings and, if they align with our personal inner truth and knowing, to enlarge our belief system to include them

à E xpress our lives as a demonstration of our highest beliefs, rather than as a denial of them

à Curiously, Rick Warren has developed his own P.E.A.C.E. plan.   He declared that the Purpose Driven Church had arrived at its “moment of destiny”, and that God was preparing their church for “a great dream to change the world”, and that it would “change history”.  He declared that his “Global Peace Plan IS GOING TO HAPPEN”.  Rick Warren unveiled this plan on November 2, 2003.  He declared that they were “going global” and it was time to “bless the whole world”.  He used the same acronym as Neale Donald Walsch, as follows:

à P lant churches

à E quip leaders

à A ssist the poor

à C are for the sick

à E ducate the next generation

As Rick Warren was unveiling his peace plan, he quoted 2nd Corinthians 5:18-19 from the Contemporary English Version that substitutes the word “peace” for the usually translated words of “reconcile”, “reconciled, and “reconciliation”.

Let’s first look at the verse in the NASB:

à 2nd Corinthians 5:18-19  (18) Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,  (19)  namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

The meaning of the Greek word is “exchange, favor, restoration, or atonement”, not peace:

à G2643

καταλλαγή

katallagē

kat-al-lag-ay'

From G2644; exchange (figuratively adjustment), that is, restoration to (the divine) favor: - atonement, reconciliation (-ing).

à 2nd Corinthians 5:18-19 from the Contemporary English Version says:  “God sent Christ to make peace between himself and us.  And he’s given us the work of making peace between himself and others.  God was in Christ offering peace and forgiveness to the people of this world.  And now he has given us the work of sharing his message about peace.” (CEV)

Rick Warren pointed out the numerous uses of the word “peace”, but did not clarify that it only appears that way in this verse in newer translations.

à Rick described the church as “the real peace corp.” and said “It is our job, it is our responsibility, to help people make peace with God and then to help them make peace with each other.  That is the commission that was given not to government, but to the Church”.

à The “great commission” that God gave the church was to make disciples, and then teach them to observe His commandments, not to make peace with each other.  Lets look at  Matthew 28:19-20:

à Matthew 28:19-20  "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,  (20)  teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

The “great commission” then is make disciples, then teach them to obey Yahweh’s/Yeshua’s commandments (Torah), not to make peace.  In fact, Yeshua said He did not come to bring peace, but a sword:

à Matthew 10:34-38  "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  (35)  "For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW;  (36)  and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD.  (37)  "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  (38)  "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.

So Yeshua says that not only will there not be peace between nations, but there will not be peace even among family members.

à Rick Warren declared that he had been talking to world leaders and getting their opinions, and that this 5 step P.E.A.C.E. plan was what he came up with.  àHe stated that it would be a foundation for world peace, and that the effort could hasten the return of Jesus.  He declared “You know what God is doing?  He is preparing the distribution channel.  àGod is preparing a platform to do peace.”

I can’t help but think that although Rick Warren follows Jesus, and of his followers there are many saved people, but that they will easily be deceived when the antichrist comes on the scene preaching peace.  àWill they think the antichrist is Jesus Himself?  Or will they simply be deceived since they have been taught how Jesus has come to bring peace?  The antichrist’s message will be right in line with this, as he preaches peace right before the great tribulation begins.

But, as we have mentioned before, the bible sternly warns:

1 Thessalonians 5:3  While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.

Warren Smith points out in his book “Deceived On Pupose” that Rick Warren was starting to sound more and more like Neale Donald Walsch.  Walsch’s “god” also prepared a P.E.A.C.E. plan to change history.  There are more parallels between the two:

à Walsch wrote:

“The universe does nothing by accident”

“You can change the course of human history”

“This is not an exaggeration”

à Rick Warren stated:

“You are not a part of Saddleback Church by accident… I say this without fear of exaggeration - God is going to use you, and all of us together at Saddleback, to change history”

Why would God inspire a true believer to mimic a new age plan so closely?

The problems with Rick Warren’s teachings are more subtle and harder to detect.  Is he a false prophet?  Is he a bad tree bearing bad fruit?  Again, I want to point out that he clearly states that you must accept Jesus’ atoning death to be saved.  So I’m not here to question his salvation.   I don’t however find anywhere in his teachings an exhortation to obey the commandments of God.  As Garry recently taught, a true disciple of Yeshua is one who obeys His commandments.  In my research, I did not find anywhere in Rick Warren’s teaching exhorting us to keep the commandments.  I will leave it to you to search further.  Rick’s teachings build churches, build memberships, and train people for leadership, but do they teach them to obey Yahweh’s commandments?  Did Yeshua exhort His followers to build the biggest churches they could, and institute a global peace plan?  Or did He exhort them to make disciples, teach them to follow His commandments, and be witnesses unto the uttermost parts of the earth?

àDo the things we have looked at about Rick Warren fit any characteristics of the antichrist?

Remember what those 6 characteristics are… and I will let you decide for yourself if Rick Warren displays any of them:

1) Deceptive Speech

2) He Is Against Yahweh’s Covenant

3) He Makes War

4) He Exalts Himself As God

5) He Makes Signs & Wonders, and Controls Man

6) The Spirit Of Antichrist Was From The Beginning, And Denies Yeshua Has Come In The Flesh

I will leave it to you to decide whether Rick Warren is a good tree bearing good fruit or a bad tree bearing bad fruit.  Just remember what we learned about fruit… it’s not just the good deeds that someone does, it’s the message that they are speaking that indicated whether they are a false prophet or not.  I wanted you to see how deceiving these new age concepts can be, and how easily they can be grasped by Christianity.

àNew Age Infiltrating Government, leading to  the One World Order

We’ve talked briefly about how the New Age movement is a religion, but since it’s not a recognized religion, it’s free to enter our government.  We’ve seen how New Age leaders such as Marianne Williamson and Neale Donald Walsch have developed the “Peace Alliance” which they hope will become a part of our government.

In this section I want to take a look at the belief in a one-world government that the New Age movement holds dear, as well as how New Age philosophies are already entrenched in government leaders and organizations.

àThe New Age Movement has a foundational belief in a one-world government and one-world religion.  As we have mentioned, it holds to the view that we must all realize that we are “at one” with god, and we must give up any beliefs that cause separation.  It is the belief in man’s divinity and the ultimate self-transformation that will occur, as well as a global transformation that will bring about this one world order.  àTo achieve this, one must awaken to the original sin of Lucifer, as proposed to Eve in the garden, that “we can be as gods”.  Let’s look at that account in Genesis:

àGen 3:1-7  Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"  (2)  The woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;  (3)  but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'"  (4)  The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!  (5)  "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."  (6)  When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.  (7)  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.

Here is the exact picture of the “fruit” that we have been talking about.  Eve had a choice.  And she knew the commandment that she was not to eat the fruit.  However, either she chose to add to that commandment, or someone deceived her and told her that she also could not touch it.  In any event, the commandment had been altered.  She chose the fruit, reached out and took it and partook of it.  She then had to bear the consequences of partaking of that fruit.

This lie of Satan, that “we can be like God” has perpetuated itself throughout the millennia and will come to its ultimate fruition during the tribulation when the antichrist sets himself up in the temple of God, and declares that he is God!

The New Age Movement believes that once everyone experiences this at-one-ment, the one world order and religion will become a reality.

àThis new world order program has been on the drawing board of many influential leaders for decades, despite denials and “conspiracy theory” accusations. The terms “one world order”, “new world order”, etc., have now however been replaced by the more acceptable term “globalization”.  In hundreds of books, articles, and speeches of the 20th century, many influential and powerful people, including many in the US Congress, have called for this one world order.  In order to achieve it,  it has been suggested that the US give up her sovereignty and individual freedoms. (conspiracy archive.com)

àPresident George Bush, in a speech to Congress on September 11, 1990, said: (interesting that this was said on September 11th, 11 years before the tragedy of September 11th 2001)

"[The war in Iraq is] a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times...a New World Order can emerge."

àIn his September 21, 1992 speech to the United Nations, President George Bush announced that foreign troops, would occupy America and train for a New World Order Army. He stated:

"Nations should develop and train military units for possible U.N. peacekeeping operations. ... If multinational units are to work together, they must train together. ... Effective multinational action will also require coordinated command & control and inter-operability of both equipment and communications."  (theforbiddenknowledge.com)

I wanted to talk further about our government and the New Age influences in it, including Barak Obama’s endorsement by Oprah Winfrey, but God led me to talk more about world government and the new world order.

à“Theosophy” literally means “god-wisdom” and is defined in Wikipedia as:

“The study of religious philosophy and metaphysics as originating with Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. In this context, theosophy holds that all religions are attempts by the "Spiritual Hierarchy" to help humanity in evolving to greater perfection, and that each religion therefore has a portion of the truth.”

àThe theosophical teachings of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and Alice Bailey was a major force in forwarding the “One World Order” and the idea of a one world religion.

àHelen Blavatsky formed the “Theosophical Society” which espoused the abolishment of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, promoting the unity of other world religions. àThey (Helen and Alice) claimed that their teachings were revealed by “spirit” or elemental guides (demons). àThey emphasized heavily the evolution of a self deified, master Aryan society, and a one world “new age” religion and social order.

àBailey’s teachings discussed extensively plans for religious war, forced redistribution of the world’s resources, mass planetary initiations, theology for a new world order, world-wide disarmament, and elimination of obstinate religions. She even discussed the sacredness of the new world leader’s number, 666 (the number of the Beast). (Dark Secrets of the New Age by Texe Marrs)

In 1920, Bailey founded the à“Lucifer Publishing Company,” which printed and distributed their teachings . These teachings were very complete in their intent and goals. Step by step they plotted the coming new age with instructions for the institution of the necessary new world order. 1922 saw the organization's name changed to Lucis Trust though the advancement of the Luciferian beliefs remained true.

àLucis Trust promotes the work of an "Ascended Master" who was working 'through' Alice Bailey for some 30 years. The Lucis Trust Publishing Company and their many fronts and organizations worship an "Externalized Hierarchy" of "Ascended Masters," who carry out the work of a Luciferian "master plan" for the establishment of a permanent "Age of Aquarius" ruled by one "Sanat Kumara", the "Lord of the World."

àThe Lucis Trust is the Publishing House which prints and disseminates United Nations material. It is a devastating indictment of the New Age and Pagan nature of the UN.

Lucis Trust is a powerful institution that enjoys à"Consultative Status" with the United Nations, which permits it to have a close working relationship with the U.N., including a seat on the weekly sessions, but most importantly, influence with powerful business and national leaders throughout the world. Through its founding of World Goodwill, àLucis Trust is "aggressively involved in promoting a globalist ideology".

àAt one time, the Lucis Trust office in New York was located at 666 United Nations Plaza and is a member of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations under a slick program called "World Goodwill". In an Alice Bailey book called "Education for a New Age"; she suggests that in the new age "World Citizenship should be the goal of the enlightened, with a world federation and a world brain." In other words - a One World Government New World Order.

(freemasonry watch.org)

àThe United Nations has long been one of the foremost world harbingers for the "New Spirituality" and the gathering "New World Order" based on ancient occult and freemasonic principles. àSeven years after the birth of the UN, a book was published by Alice Bailey, claiming that "Evidence of the growth of the human intellect along the needed receptive lines [for the preparation of the New Age] can be seen in the "planning" of various nations and in the efforts of the United Nations to formulate a world plan... From the very start of this unfoldment, three occult factors have governed the development of all these plans". [Alice B. Bailey, Discipleship in the New Age (Lucis Press, 1955), Vol. II, p.35.]

Although she did not spell out clearly the identity of these 'three occult factors', she did reveal to her students that "Within the United Nations is the germ and seed of a great international and meditating, reflective group - a group of thinking and informed men and women in whose hands lies the destiny of humanity. To this end, the Lucis Trust, under the leadership of Foster and Alice Bailey, started a group called à'World Goodwill' - an official non-governmental organization within the United Nations. The stated aim of this group is "to cooperate in the world of preparation for the reappearance of the Christ" [One Earth, the magazine of the Findhorn Foundation, October/November 1986, Vol. 6, Issue 6, p.24.]

But the esoteric work inside the UN does not stop with such recognized occult groupings. Much of the impetus for this process was initiated through the officer ship of two Secretary-Generals of the UN, àDag Hammarskjöld (held office: 1953-1961) and àU Thant (held office: 1961-1971) who succeeded him, and one Assistant Secretary-general, àDr. Robert Muller. In a book edited by Robert Muller, it is revealed "Dag Hammarskjöld, the rational Nordic economist, had ended up as a mystic. He too held at the end of his life that spirituality was the ultimate key to our earthly fate in time and space". [Robert Muller (ed.), The Desire to be Human: A Global Reconnaissance of Human Perspectives in an Age of Transformation (Miranana, 1983), p.304.] (freemasonry watch.org)

àDr. Robert Muller also sheds some light on the relationship of the United Nations to the "New Spirituality". He rewrites the first chapter of the biblical Book of Genesis to make it refer to the creation of the United Nations.

àUnder the title of ’The New Genesis’, the first verse states: "And God saw that all nations of the earth, black and white, rich and poor, from North or South, from East and West, and of all creeds were sending their emissaries to a tall glass house [i.e. the U.N. In the original plan for the new U.N. Headquarters, a tiny room had been provided as a place dedicated to silence, where people could withdraw into themselves, regardless of their faith, creed or religion, but Dag Hammarskjöld wanted something more dignified. In his efforts he was supported by a group, composed of Christians, Jews, and Moslems, the "Friends of the UN Meditation Room", who combined their efforts and provided the money for a room worthy of a world organization.

The work on the room began, and Mr. Hammarskjöld personally planned and supervised in every detail the creation of the "Meditation Room".

The room was re-opened in 1957. Dag Hammarskjöld wrote the following text to be distributed to the visitors of the room:

“We all have within us a center of stillness surrounded by silence.

This house, dedicated to work and debate in the service of peace, should have one room dedicated to silence in the outward sense and stillness in the inner sense.

It has been the aim to create in this small room a place where the doors may be open to the infinite lands of thought and prayer.

People of many faiths will meet here, and for that reason none of the symbols to which we are accustomed in our meditation could be used.

However, there are simple things which speak to us all with the same language. We have sought for such things and we believe that we have found them in the shaft of light striking the shimmering surface of solid rock.

So, in the middle of the room we see a symbol of how, daily, the light of the skies gives life to the earth on which we stand, a symbol to many of us of how the light of the spirit gives life to matter.

But the stone in the middle of the room has more to tell us. We may see it as an altar, empty not because there is no God, not because it is an altar to an unknown god, but because it is dedicated to the God whom man worships under many names and in many forms.

The stone in the middle of the room reminds us also of the firm and permanent in a world of movement and change. The block of iron ore has the weight and solidity of the everlasting. It is a reminder of that cornerstone of endurance and faith on which all human endeavor must be based.

The material of the stone leads our thoughts to the necessity for choice between destruction and construction, between war and peace. Of iron man has forged his swords, of iron he has also made his ploughshares. Of iron he has constructed tanks, but of iron he has likewise built homes for man. The block of iron ore is part of the wealth we have inherited on this earth of ours. How are we to use it?

The shaft of light strikes the stone in a room of utter simplicity. There are no other symbols, there is nothing to distract our attention or to break in on the stillness within ourselves. When our eyes travel from these symbols to the front wall, they meet a simple pattern opening up the room to the harmony, freedom and balance of space.

There is an ancient saying that the sense of a vessel is not in its shell but in the void. So it is with this room. It is for those who come here to fill the void with what they find in their center of stillness."  (www.aquaac.org)

I find it interesting that Dag Hammarskjold did not use any familiar religious symbols in this room.  That sounds all too similar to what the antichrist will do…

àDan 11:37-38  "He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will magnify himself above them all.  (38)  "But instead he will honor a god of fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold, silver, costly stones and treasures.

Wade asked me to go over this again about the “god of fortresses”

à Let’s see what the definition of this “god of fortresses” is:

H4581   Fortresses

מעוז  /  מעז  /  מעז  /  מעוּז

ma^‛o^z  /  ma^‛u^z

BDB Definition:

1) place or means of safety, protection, refuge, stronghold

1a) place of safety, fastness, harbour, stronghold

1b) refuge (of God) (figuratively)

1c) human protection (figuratively)

Part of Speech: noun masculine

A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s Number: from H5810

Same Word by TWOT Number: 1578a

The definition suggests a man made fortress or place of supposed protection that is made by man, but perhaps looks like it‘s from God.  Also a stronghold (of the enemy).

à H5810

עזז

‛a^zaz

BDB Definition:

1) to be strong

1a) (Qal) to be strong, prevail

1b) (Hiphil) to make firm, strengthen

Part of Speech: verb

A Related Word by BDB/Strong’s Number: a primitive root

Same Word by TWOT Number: 1596

H5810 azaz is the root word for the Hebrew words for “goat” and “scapegoat“.  (Scapegoat is “azazel”).  Goats in scripture are always associated with sin and deception.

So this “god of fortresses” perhaps is something that man has created to look as if it/he is of God, or is “god”.  This “god of fortresses” is associated with deception and strongholds.  The picture of a man-made god of strongholds, sin, and deception is exactly the picture we are seeing in this religion of the New Age Movement.

àHammarskjold had a few more words to say about the meditation room:

“I do not know whether there is anything quite like the arrangement of that Room with a big block of stone in the center. The original idea was one which I think you will all recognize; you will find it in many great religions; it is the empty altar, empty not because there is no God, but empty because God is worshipped in so many forms. The stone in the center is the altar to the God of all. At the same time, at least to myself it had strong associations with the cornerstone, the firm element in a world of movement and turmoil. In this house, with its dynamic modern architecture, there are very few things that give you the feeling of weight, solidity and permanence; in this case we wanted this massive altar to give the impression of something more than temporary.”

So Dag Hammarskjöld specifically calls this huge rock in the center of the room àGod’s altar.  Let’s look at what Yahweh’s altar is, and how this is a profanity of that altar.  The Hebrew word for altar is mizbeach, as follows:

àH4196

מזבּח

mizbe^ach

miz-bay'-akh

 .

àThe root word is:

H2076

זבח

za^bach

zaw-bakh'

A primitive root; to slaughter an animal (usually in sacrifice): - kill, offer, (do) sacrifice, slay.

àZayin = dagger, to cut or cut off  = 7 perfect plan of God

Bet = house, family = 2 balance between God and man

Chet = fence, enclosure, private = 8 new beginnings

àWord picture:  When the sacrifice (Yeshua the Passover Lamb) is cut off (sacrificed), the house of Yahweh is formed, or enclosed, or brought together.

àGematria:  7 + 2 + 8 = 17 = Messiah, Victory

                          1 + 7 = 8 = New Beginnings

àGematria word picture:  Yeshua was the sacrificed Passover Lamb on the altar, which was the perfect plan of God, bringing a balance between God and man, and bringing a new beginning!

Hallelujah!

Lets see what else Yahweh has to say about His altar:

àExodus 20:23-25  'You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.  (24)  'You shall make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.  (25)  'If you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it.

This verse appears right after the giving of the 10 commandments.  Obviously, this crafted block of iron ore is a cut stone, and therefore unsuitable for God’s altar.  Not only that, but we know that Yahweh’s altar will be on the temple mount, in the place where Yahweh chooses to put His name.  This iron ore block is an abomination to Yahweh.  Could it be that the “abomination of desolation” will be a similar object?  An “altar” to the “god of fortresses” whom his fathers did not know?  And as I brought up before, could it be that this “god of fortresses” is this “god” of the new age movement, a god that is made up of all the religions and gods that people follow in the world today?

I also found it curious that Dag Hammarskjöld referred to this block of iron ore as the “cornerstone”.  Of course we know that only Yeshua is correctly referred to as the cornerstone.

One has only to enter the so-called "Meditation Room" at the U.N. Headquarters  in New York to recognize the dark antichristian origins of the spiritual philosophy which has conceived and pervaded this organization.

The bare wedge-shaped room with its eerie lodestone altar, and the cryptic, Picasso-like mural on the smallest wall, symbolize the empty heart of countless esoteric religious cults down the ages. It therefore comes as no surprise to learn that the U.N. had its own official Indian meditation instructor, Sri Chinmoy, who held two meditation sessions per week within the U.N. building, and whose specialty is to lull his audiences into trance with music!

Even the normally staid Houses of Parliament in the U.K. have played host to Sri Chinmoy - at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Commons-so that politicians could receive instruction in his meditation technique. [The Daily Telegraph (UK), undated article in the ’Peterborough’ column.]  Chinmoy died in October 2007.

Let’s take a look at some interesting facts about this meditation room:

The room is 18 feet wide at the entrance, which is 3-6’s.  The room is also 33 feet long, and tapers down to form a truncated pyramid.  We see the picture of a truncated pyramid on the back of our $1 bill.  In occult numerology the number 33 is known as the Master Teacher.  The highest attainable degree in Freemasonry is 33.  The original Babylon (present-day Iraq) is located on the 33rd parallel.

The room is designed like a pyramid lying on its side with a mural in place of the capstone (i.e., the top of the pyramid would appear to be cut-off, with this image appearing in the place of it.) It's a small room with no windows.  The room is dimly lit, however a small beam of light from a lens in the ceiling focuses on the altar.

In the middle of the room is the black stone block altar made of iron ore that weighs 13,000 pounds (13 being another important occult number).  The Masons consider the number 13 to be the most Masonically correct number, and it is deemed sacred.  The number 13 is connected to rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, and revolution.  The block is said to have magnetic properties.

The mural was painted by Swedish artist Bo Beskow.  The 9 x 6½ feet fresco consists of blue, white, gray and yellow geometric forms with the light, pure colors intersecting to form deeper shades.  In the middle is what appears to be a serpent intertwining a pole intersected by the perpendicular side of a triangle (cf. the central cross intertwined with a serpent) in front of a half-darkened sun representing the Zoroastrian concept of the conflict between good and evil.  The mural is divided into 72 separate sections—the tetragrammaton or Divine Name of 72 words from Kaballah. It depicts triangles and pyramids representing "the deity" in accordance with the ancient Babylonian symbols.  The mural's center sphere and outer circle roughly form an eye, representative of the “all seeing eye”. The one world order conspiracy goes deeper than we can imagine.  I don’t have time to even begin to scratch the surface of what is going on.  I encourage you to continue studying on your own.  Research the UN Earth Charter and the Ark of Hope, for example, for more information about how evil is pervading the UN, while most people have no idea what’s going on.
